Doha City Skyline

Sprawling modern construction everywhere you go with bits of pieces of scattered Qatari culture. The city skyline is massive and still growing and is the first thing travelers will notice when getting into Doha. The riverwalk provides some great views of the buildings along with the turquoise color water. Plenty of traditional wooden dhow boats trying to solicit you a ride as well along the harbor. Once nighttime comes around, the skyline lights up with many bright colors and throw in the beautiful Museum of Islamic Art, it provides a fantastic view comparable to any big cities skyline at night.

Souq Waqif

One of the more local and authentic places to check out is Souq Waqif. Home to many litte shops selling tourists souvenirs in addition to local eats from the region along with Arabic coffee. The souq is most crowded in the evening hours when more locals come out from the heat and enjoy the outdoor patio seating with drinks, eats and hookah while socializing. Nestled within Souq Waqif, is the Falcon Souq. Falconry has its history in the Arab world and you can simply walk into many shops and see many of these highly trained falcons resting. If you ask politely and talk to them, they will even let you hold one of these skilled birds!
